Have a little faith Here, have a little more There’s a smile on her face Seems like we’ve both been here before And I don’t know what to do I can’t leave it all to you And now it’s that time again Now it’s that time again Time to turn around Time to leave this town Go back underground And contemplate all that I’ve found I didn’t mean to say goodbye And I hope that you won’t cry ‘cause now it’s that time again Now it’s that time again Time to turn around Go back underground And I don’t know what to do I can’t leave it all to you And now it’s that time again Now it’s that time again

She looked in my eyes Saw right thru my disguise She knew I could be with her happily But something unsaid went through both of our heads And now we both know this is not meant to be She took a deep breath and sighed I fixed my collar and tie The timing’s just not right She said that someday She’d like to move away Where she can’t say, no not definitely And so I’ll convey that I know I can’t stay And now we both know this is not meant to be Now we both know this is not meant to be We speak no words, but still I hear her out The cards won’t fall for her and me I tell her don’t be afraid to let him take you out I won’t take it so badly It’s time that I go Hate to leave her alone I hope she is happy with him over me It may sound cliché, but there might come a day For now we both know this is not meant to be Now we both know this is not meant to be

Undertow 04:00
Tears like rain fall from our eyes A fine campaign of long goodbyes Just one kiss before I go Once we part I’ll miss you so At times it may seem strange But don’t be afraid of change Each new moment will come and go Music playing in stereo Don’t get caught in the undertow and wash away As long as you know that I’ll still be with you when I’m gone And every time you hear this song A sweet and simple melody Please remember to think about me At times you might feel lost There were lines that we both crossed But each new moment will come and go Music playing in stereo Don’t get caught in the undertow and wash away Just remember to say All the things we meant to say And should have spoken before today Words of sorrow, words of joy Each new feeling we might employ Don’t think this is the end I will always be your friend But each new moment will come and go Music playing in stereo Don’t get caught in the undertow and wash away Please don’t wash away

Why Pretend 04:08
It's just not the same without your love So what in the hell were you thinking of You said I was wrong, that this wasn't my song I was heads and you were tails Flip the coin, but heads always prevails So I can try to see both sides, but why should we pretend I just wanna move on, go back to calling you my friend After all the things that we have done and everywhere we've been I can try to see both sides, but why should we pretend Now it's written in black and white A steadily worsening plight You said it was me, but how can this be I was in and you were out Miles beyond any doubt So I can try to see both sides, but why should we pretend I just wanna move on, go back to calling you my friend After all the things that we have done and everywhere we've been I can try to see both sides, but why should we pretend Whatever happened to responsibility How did all the blame fall on me And what about you, I thought that we had both out grew This susceptibility So I can try to see both sides, but why should we pretend I just wanna move on, go back to calling you my friend After all the things that we have done and everywhere we've been I can try to see both sides, but why should we pretend After all the things that we have done and everywhere we've been I can try to see both sides, but why should we pretend

All this seems a little strange But maybe I’m insane There’s not much here for me to lose But so much I could gain And I think it’s time for a change Yeah, I think it’s time for a change I’ve been running circles Now it’s time that I move straight ahead Doesn’t always work I know But I’ll have to sleep when I’m dead And I think it’s time for a change Yeah, I think it’s time for a change For better or for worse I know I’ve got my faults Can’t keep doing the same old thing And expecting new results No, I think it’s time for a change Yeah, I think it’s time for a change I’ve stood in one place so long Guess it’s time I get moving on I keep writing the same old song With the same old chords and rhymes Now I think it’s time for a change Yeah, I think it’s time for a change
8.
Go It Alone 04:02
She just got home the lights are dim She’ll pour herself a drink Take a sip, begin to think She sits alone with thoughts of him They had tried his way But now she’ll need to call and say Chorus: Where would I be without you Out in the rain and drenched to the bone It’s not that I’m starting to doubt you But maybe it’s time that I go it alone Silence breaks, the telephone rings Lifts the receiver to his ear What he’ll hear confirms his fear She wants to try some other things He’ll beg and plead for her to stay But it’s too late, all that she’ll say is Chorus Less is more, ‘less more is less It’s such a bore when you refuse to give your best Take all you want, but not from me I hope you’ll realize I’m not your enemy And I can see I know where I’d be without you Out in the rain and drenched to the bone It’s not that I’ve started to doubt you But maybe it’s time that I go it alone
9.
Somewhere in the back of my memory Covered in dust on a shelf A place that I’ve been Now I’m back here again This time I’ve come by myself Chorus And I think I wanna call I wanna call I’m gonna call This place my home Yeah, I think I wanna call I wanna call I’m gonna call This place my home The years live and die, they are casualties Victims of the time that’s gone by But seedlings in spring Grow into beautiful things And now is the moment I’m in Chorus Just thought I’d call and see Just when you might be free I know we can find it Will be so good to see you again But if it don’t work out Then I don’t have a doubt I’ll see you the next time Til then I’ll be fine on my own Chorus
10.
Raggedly on display in the gallery Now is not the time to fall Just keep on standing tall It’s a tried and true affair Far away Temporarily on display Animal caged at the zoo Attempting to break through But caught in the cross hairs Chorus Now is not the time Feeding fuel into the fire Just standing in line Singing to the choir Ah Ah Ah Memory Can manifest what you want to see Soon reality sets in You’re back in your own skin And up against the wall Don’t hide away It’s nothing but hearsay Walls will crumble down And falling to the ground Don’t always feel so small Chorus
11.
Carry 03:57
Chorus: Carry, oh won’t you carry I can’t shake this weight off of me I’ve dug in deep now and I feel buried Won’t you take this weight off of me Felt so young and alive I was just twenty five My path was laid out in front of me But every time it’s the same First the thunder then rain Set afloat, all alone, lost out at sea Chorus Seems like so long ago But then what do I really know? If I opened my eyes then I’d see All the things that I fear Have become perfectly clear And tomorrow’s as bright, bright as can be Chorus Along this road that we’re on Things will pass, then they’re gone But there’s still so much more out there to see Though things are weighing me down I am glad that I found Someone like you who can take this weight off of me Chorus

about

The Days is the fourth album from Zach Jones, an artist whose musical exploration knows no boundaries. Embracing a similar vintage production style as his previous album Things Were Better, The Days explores new musical territory while echoing the vibe and style of the 1960’s and 70’s pop music that Jones loves and continues to be inspired by. With thoughtful lyrics, simple melodies, and skilled musicianship, the ten songs on The Days traverse the musical landscapes of classical, rock, pop, and soul.

Note: The Days, is an album designed to be enjoyed as a singular piece of work. The sequence, segues, and transitions have all been carefully constructed to bring a unique listening experience and provide maximum enjoyment for the listener. When played from beginning to end, there is a narrative that flows through this album. In my head, it plays like a movie. I hope it will provide personal mind-movies for all of you and bring just a little bit more happiness into the world.

The Days has been broken into two sides, A and B, for those who choose to listen to the album as it is intended. However, I understand that we are living in a singles era. With attention spans shorter than ever and the world’s entire musical catalogue available at our fingertips, some people may prefer to hear just one or two songs in the manner of their own choosing. In fact, there are many people who say “the album” is dead. I refuse to believe this, but just the same, the songs contained within The Days have also been made available for consumption in a stand-alone fashion.

about

Zach Jones Los Angeles, California

With an encyclopedic knowledge of yesterday’s music and an awareness and appreciation for today’s, Jones combines the raw energy and style of the 1960’s British pop explosion, with the soulful expression of the R&B that poured from Motown & Stax. While paying tribute to the music he loves, yet expanding beyond tradition, Jones has created a fresh musical melting pot of modern rock, pop, and soul. ... more
